Getting started
After you install, the Dashboard shows a setup checklist. Work through it top to bottom:
- Create a wholesale group — e.g. “Wholesale” with a 20% base discount.
- Set wholesale prices — a group discount on its own is enough to start; add price rules later.
- Turn on wholesale pricing at checkout — one click on Activate.
- Send your prices to checkout — happens automatically whenever prices change.
- Add the wholesale blocks to your product page, link the application page, and optionally turn on the order rules. Mark each one done when it's in place.
Everything happens inside your Shopify admin. TAGTrade never edits your theme code — storefront features are theme app blocks you add or remove in the theme editor.
Groups & customers
A group is a price tier (e.g. Wholesale, Distributors, Retail Partners). Each group has a customer tag, a base discount, an optional minimum order value and optional payment terms.
- Buyers join a group when you approve their application, or when you add them directly under Customers & Groups → Wholesale customers (handy for phone or trade-show onboarding).
- Approved customers get the
wholesaletag plus the group's tag in Shopify. Tags match exactly —distributorandDistributorare different. - Move a customer to another group, mark them tax-exempt, or start a quote for them from the same list. Customers in the same company share one credit limit.
Price lists & quantity breaks
On Price Lists, add rules on top of a group's base discount:
- Scope — a single variant or a whole collection (use its Shopify ID).
- Type — a percentage off retail, or a fixed wholesale price.
- From qty — the quantity where the rule starts. Add several rules for the same product to build quantity breaks (e.g. 25% from 1, 30% from 10, 35% from 25).
- Case qty — sells in packs of this size (e.g. 12).
The most specific rule wins: variant fixed price, then variant %, then collection fixed, then collection %, then the group's base discount.
Lots of rules? Use CSV import with the columns scope, scope_id, rule_type, value, min_qty, case_qty, label, or Export CSV to edit what you already have.
Wholesale prices at checkout
Wholesale prices are applied by an automatic Shopify discount that TAGTrade creates for you — click Activate on the Dashboard. Retail customers are never affected: the discount only applies to customers tagged for a group.
When prices change, TAGTrade sends them to checkout automatically. The last sync shows on Price Lists → Checkout sync, where you can also click Sync to checkout now.
Order rules (optional): to enforce case packs and order minimums at checkout, go to Shopify Settings → Checkout → Checkout rules and add TAGTrade order rules.
Prices not applying? Check that the buyer is logged in with the right tags, the discount shows as active on the Dashboard, and the last checkout sync says “pushed”.
Storefront blocks
In Online Store → Themes → Customize, open a product page and add these TAGTrade app blocks (or use Open theme editor on the Dashboard checklist):
- Wholesale price — shows the buyer's wholesale price next to the retail price.
- Quantity breaks — a small table of the buyer's volume tiers.
- Quote basket — lets approved buyers add products to a quote request instead of checking out.
The blocks only show to approved wholesale buyers; retail visitors see your normal product page. For extras like a wholesale catalog page, a ship-to picker or a buyer return form, copy the snippets on Account → Theme Snippets.
Wholesale applications
- Link your application form: add
/apps/tagtrade/registerto your menu or footer (Online Store → Navigation). - Buyers fill in their company, contact details, tax ID, addresses and any licenses you require.
- New applications appear under Sales → Applications. Pick a group and click Approve account, or Reject application. Addresses and licenses can be approved one by one.
Approved buyers are tagged in Shopify and see their prices as soon as they log in. Their account page lives at /apps/tagtrade/account — order history, saved shopping lists, statements and returns.
Quotes & proformas
- From your storefront — buyers add products to the quote basket and submit. The request lands in Quotes.
- From the admin — create a quote for any buyer under Quotes → New manual quote (great for phone orders).
On a quote you can change quantities and prices, add items by name or SKU, see cost and margin per line, set the ship-to state, and add a note for the buyer. Click Issue proforma & send to buyer to email a branded proforma PDF and an accept link.
When the buyer clicks Accept quote, TAGTrade creates a Shopify draft order at the agreed prices. Quotes that aren't answered expire automatically.
Change the proforma's colors, logo, header and footer text under Account → Settings → Proforma template.
Net terms & statements
- Create terms profiles (e.g. Net 30, Net 60, with an optional credit limit) under Account → Settings.
- Attach a profile to a group or to a single customer.
- Net-terms orders appear on Finance → Net Terms with their due date. Mark them paid in full or in part, and add carrier and tracking when you ship.
TAGTrade emails buyers a reminder 7 days before the due date, on the due date, and 3, 10 and 20 days after it if still unpaid (switch reminders off per terms profile). The page shows receivables aging (current, 1–30, 31–60, 60+ days late) and your top balances. On the Scale plan you can download or email a monthly statement PDF per customer.
TAGTrade tracks what is owed and reminds buyers; payment itself happens through Shopify invoices or offline. Credit limits are advisory.
Returns
Buyers request a return from their account page (or the return form snippet), choosing a reason and adding a note or photo. On Returns you decide line by line, mark the condition, choose whether to restock, and pick how to settle:
- Shopify original method — refunds the order in Shopify.
- Store credit — adds to the buyer's credit balance and issues a numbered credit note.
- Replacement, restocking fee (partial refund) or other (record how you settled it).
Sales reps & commissions
Under Customers → Sales Reps, invite a rep by name and email. They get an invite link to set a password and sign in to their own rep portal, where they see their assigned accounts and build quotes for them.
Roles decide what a rep can see — product cost, accounting and purchase data, and whether they can issue quotes. Default and Limited roles are created for you. Assign customers to reps from the same page, and set up commission plans (simple % or per category) under Finance → Commissions.
Licenses & excise tax
For regulated products (vape, tobacco, hemp, food and similar):
- License Types — choose which licenses buyers must upload (resale, tobacco, FEIN and others), whether they belong to the buyer or to an address, and whether an expired license only warns or blocks.
- B2B Categories and Product Mapping — group products into categories and say which licenses each category needs.
- Excise Tax — per-state rules by category: a % of cost, per unit, per mL or per gram. Quotes calculate excise from the buyer's ship-to state.
- Box Variants — sell single units to retail and boxes to wholesale, with an optional wholesale-only mirror product and shared stock.
Reports
On Reports, pick a date range and download Sales, Profit, Tax (excise), Commission, Credit, Demand gap or Returns as a CSV that opens straight in Excel.
Plans & billing
Plans are billed through Shopify and appear on your Shopify invoice: Free, Starter $99.99, Growth $299.99 and Scale $499.99 per month, with a 14-day free trial on paid plans. Plans differ in the number of groups, price rules and quotes per month; net terms come with Growth and statements with Scale. Change plan any time under Account → Billing.
Uninstalling
Remove TAGTrade from Shopify Settings → Apps. Shopify cancels the subscription, wholesale prices stop applying at checkout, and the app blocks disappear from your theme. Shopify asks us to delete your store's data 48 hours after uninstall, and we then permanently delete your groups, prices, quotes and customer records.
Contact support
Fastest: in your Shopify admin open TAGTrade → Support, describe what happened and send. You can share your setup details (plan, sync status, browser — never customer data) so we don't have to ask, and our reply appears right there and in your inbox.
Can't open the app? Email shop_b2b@theappsgalore.com with your store address (your-store.myshopify.com), what you expected and what happened instead. Screenshots help.
We usually reply within one business day.
